Founder of ChefYoyo | Culinary Community Builder | Food Innovation Expert
Welcome to ChefYoyo! I'm Zara Thyme Kingston, and my story is woven through the aromatic spices of my Filipino heritage and the classical techniques of my British culinary training. My journey in the culinary world began in my grandmother's kitchen in Manila, where I learned that food is more than sustenance—it's a language of love, a bridge between cultures, and a catalyst for community.
After graduating with honors from Le Cordon Bleu London, I embarked on an adventure that would take me through some of the world's most prestigious kitchens. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the refined kitchens of Paris, I've had the privilege of working alongside master chefs who taught me not just about food, but about the power of bringing people together around a table.
ChefYoyo was born from a simple observation: in our increasingly digital world, we're losing the art of connection through cooking. While working as a head chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant in London, I noticed how people yearned for more than just excellent food—they wanted to be part of the story, to learn, to connect.
In 2019, I took a leap of faith and created ChefYoyo, a platform that transforms the traditional cooking class model into something more meaningful: a community where food enthusiasts can learn, share, and grow together. What started as intimate cooking sessions in my home kitchen has blossomed into a vibrant community of over 10,000 members worldwide.
Every recipe we share, every technique we teach comes with its cultural context and story. We believe in preserving traditional methods while embracing innovation.
From our zero-waste cooking practices to our partnerships with local organic farmers, we're committed to nurturing both people and planet.
Food tastes better when shared. We create spaces where lasting friendships are formed over chopping boards and stovetops.
My passion for food extends beyond our meetups. Through our "Kitchen Confidence" program, we've provided culinary training to over 200 underprivileged youth, helping them secure jobs in the food industry. We also run monthly workshops in community centers, teaching basic cooking skills and nutrition to families on tight budgets.
When I'm not in the kitchen or hosting meetups, you'll find me exploring local farmers' markets, experimenting with fermentation projects, or writing for our blog. I'm also working on my first cookbook, "Fusion Family," which celebrates the beautiful intersection of Filipino and British cuisine.
At ChefYoyo, we don't just teach recipes—we create experiences. Our meetups are carefully crafted to encourage interaction, creativity, and cultural exchange. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced home chef, you'll find a place at our table.
Our signature approach combines:
Whether you're looking to master basic techniques, explore global cuisines, or simply meet fellow food lovers, there's a place for you at ChefYoyo. Our community is more than just a cooking class—it's a movement celebrating the power of food to bring people together.
I invite you to join us on this delicious journey. Together, we'll create not just memorable meals, but lasting connections that extend far beyond the kitchen.
