Ingredients:
- 14 oz extra-firm tofu, drained and patted dry
- 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Instructions:
- Cut the tofu into equal 1 inch cubes. Wrap the cubes in a clean kitchen towel and apply firm pressure for 2 minutes until the tofu feels tacky and matte.
- Toss the tofu cubes in a bowl with olive oil and sea salt.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the tofu and toss gently until every cube is evenly coated.
- Spread the cubes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes.
- Flip the cubes carefully with a spatula.
- Bake for another 10–15 minutes until mahogany colored and firm. Note: If edges brown too fast, pull them out 2 minutes early.
