Ingredients:

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu, drained and patted dry
  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

Instructions:

  1. Cut the tofu into equal 1 inch cubes. Wrap the cubes in a clean kitchen towel and apply firm pressure for 2 minutes until the tofu feels tacky and matte.
  2. Toss the tofu cubes in a bowl with olive oil and sea salt.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the tofu and toss gently until every cube is evenly coated.
  5. Spread the cubes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching.
  6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes.
  7. Flip the cubes carefully with a spatula.
  8. Bake for another 10–15 minutes until mahogany colored and firm. Note: If edges brown too fast, pull them out 2 minutes early.
