Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) cold water
  • 1 pound (450g) Bob Evans sausage, any flavor
  • 1/2 cup (75g) finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup (75g) grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  2. Add the cold butter and use a pastry cutter to incorporate until the mixture resembles crumbs.
  3. Gradually stir in cold water until dough forms.
  4. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
  5. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Bob Evans sausage, breaking it apart until browned and cooked through (about 8-10 minutes).
  6. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  7. Stir in grated cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and thyme. Remove from heat and let cool.
  8. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  9. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface until 1/8-inch thick.
  10. Cut into rectangles (about 4x6 inches) and place a spoonful of filling on one side.
  11. Fold over the dough, sealing edges with your fingers, and crimp with a fork.
  12. Place assembled rolls on the prepared baking sheet.
  13. Whisk the egg and milk together and brush over the rolls.
  14. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  15. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
