Ingredients:
- 1 large egg white (30g)
- 1 tablespoon water (15 ml)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100g)
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar (50g)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (5g)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (1.5g)
- 2 cups walnut halves or pieces (200g)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the egg white and water until slightly frothy.
- In a separate small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredient mixture to the egg white mixture and whisk to combine. Add walnuts to bowl and toss until walnuts are evenly coated with the sugar mixture.
- Spread the walnuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the walnuts are toasted and the coating is golden brown. Watch them carefully to prevent burning!
- Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet. The walnuts will harden as they cool. Once cool, break apart any clumps.
