Ingredients:

  • 3-4 medium bananas, peeled and halved crosswise (approx. 1 kg / 2.2 lbs total weight)
  • 6-8 popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks
  • 200g (7 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate (aim for 50-70% cocoa)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • ¼ cup (30g) chopped nuts (e.g., peanuts, almonds, walnuts)
  • ¼ cup (30g) sprinkles (rainbow, chocolate)
  • ¼ cup (30g) shredded coconut (unsweetened)
  • ¼ cup (30g) crushed Oreo cookies
  • Flaky sea salt (a pinch)

Instructions:

  1. Peel bananas, cut in half, and insert a popsicle stick into the cut end of each piece. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  2. In a double boiler or microwave, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil/shortening until smooth. Stir until fully melted and glossy.
  3. Place your desired toppings in separate bowls.
  4. Remove the frozen bananas from the freezer. Dip each banana into the melted chocolate, twirling to coat evenly to make perfect chocolate dipped bananas.
  5. Immediately sprinkle with your desired toppings.
  6. Return the dipped bananas to the baking sheet and freeze for another 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set completely.
  7. Remove from freezer a few minutes before serving.
