Ingredients:
- 3-4 medium bananas, peeled and halved crosswise (approx. 1 kg / 2.2 lbs total weight)
- 6-8 popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks
- 200g (7 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate (aim for 50-70% cocoa)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) coconut oil or vegetable shortening
- ¼ cup (30g) chopped nuts (e.g., peanuts, almonds, walnuts)
- ¼ cup (30g) sprinkles (rainbow, chocolate)
- ¼ cup (30g) shredded coconut (unsweetened)
- ¼ cup (30g) crushed Oreo cookies
- Flaky sea salt (a pinch)
Instructions:
- Peel bananas, cut in half, and insert a popsicle stick into the cut end of each piece. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 1 hour.
- In a double boiler or microwave, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil/shortening until smooth. Stir until fully melted and glossy.
- Place your desired toppings in separate bowls.
- Remove the frozen bananas from the freezer. Dip each banana into the melted chocolate, twirling to coat evenly to make perfect chocolate dipped bananas.
- Immediately sprinkle with your desired toppings.
- Return the dipped bananas to the baking sheet and freeze for another 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set completely.
- Remove from freezer a few minutes before serving.
