Ingredients:

  • 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 6 medium apples; use a mix like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and salt. Toss until evenly coated. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  2. In another mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix well. Drizzle the melted butter over the oat mixture and mix until crumbly.
  3. Evenly spread the oat topping over the apple filling.
  4. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
