Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium-high speed for 3 minutes until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients on low speed. Mix only until the white streaks of flour disappear.
  5. Using a spatula, gently fold in the chocolate chips by hand.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough (about 2 tbsp each) onto parchment-lined sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are a deep golden brown but the centers still look slightly soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the pan for 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack.
