Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until just combined.
- Form mixture into four oval-shaped patties.
- Heat 1 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties; cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
- Remove patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining butter and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until golden brown.
- Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir to coat; cook for an additional minute.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and soy sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
- Add thyme and season with salt and pepper, letting it simmer until thickened.
- Return patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and let warm together for 2 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
