Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar. Set aside to let macerate.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and eggs until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour half of the dough into the prepared loaf pan, spreading evenly.
  6. Add the apple filling on top and then layer the remaining dough over the apple mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
