Ingredients:
- 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- ¼ cup (60 g) unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and granulated sugar.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, add the unsalted butter and continue to stir until fully melted.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and reduce heat to low.
- Allow it to simmer for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until it thickens and reduces in volume (about 1 cup).
- If using vanilla extract, stir it in once your mixture has thickened.
- Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, and then transfer it to a heatproof container.
- Allow it to cool completely before sealing and storing in the fridge.
