Ingredients:
- 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
- 1 cup (100 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, making sure not to brown it.
- Gradually pour in the whole milk, whisking continuously to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally for about 2-3 minutes until it begins to thicken.
- Remove from heat and slowly stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Sprinkle in the ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
- Toss the sauce with your favorite pasta or use it as a dressing for vegetables or meat. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
