  • 1 cup (100 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, making sure not to brown it.
  3. Gradually pour in the whole milk, whisking continuously to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally for about 2-3 minutes until it begins to thicken.
  5. Remove from heat and slowly stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Sprinkle in the ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
  7. Toss the sauce with your favorite pasta or use it as a dressing for vegetables or meat. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
