Ingredients:

  • 14 oz (400g) extra-firm tofu, drained and patted dry
  • 2 tbsp (16g) cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) neutral oil
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Pat the tofu block dry with paper towels. Tear the tofu into bite-sized chunks using your hands to create irregular edges for maximum surface area.
  2. Place the tofu chunks in a large mixing bowl, drizzle with the neutral oil, and toss to coat.
  3. Sprinkle the cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and pepper over the tofu. Toss gently until every piece has a thin, matte coating with no visible clumps.
  4. Arrange the cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch.
  5. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously halfway through, until the tofu is mahogany-colored and firm.
