Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (450 g, 80% lean recommended)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (50 g, plain or Italian)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (25 g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)
  • Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to help the mixture firm up.
  3. After chilling, preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Using your hands, scoop and roll the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet or plate.
  4. Place the meatballs in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each one. Cook for 12-15 minutes, turning halfway through, until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. Carefully remove the meatballs from the air fryer and serve with marinara sauce and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
