Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 wooden skewers or popsicle sticks
- Cooking spray
Instructions:
- Pat hot dogs dry with paper towels and insert a wooden skewer into each hot dog.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and optional mustard, then combine with dry ingredients.
- Transfer the batter to the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Remove the batter from the fridge and dip each hot dog into the batter.
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place corn dogs inside.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through.
- Remove corn dogs from the air fryer and allow to cool slightly before serving.
