Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (225 g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups (480 g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Bring cream cheese and butter to room temperature.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and butter.
  3. Beat together on medium speed until smooth and creamy (2-3 minutes).
  4. Gradually add sifted powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
  5. Add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, mixing on medium speed until well combined and fluffy (about 1-2 minutes).
  6. For a thicker icing, add more powdered sugar; for a thinner icing, add a bit of milk or cream.
  7. If you prefer a firmer icing, place it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  8. Use a spatula to spread the icing onto your cooled cakes or cupcakes.
