Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup (57g) Unsalted Butter
  • 1/4 cup (31g) All-purpose Flour
  • 2 cups (473ml) Low-sodium Beef Broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25g) Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25g) Garlic Powder
  • Fine Sea Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until bubbling gently.
  2. Sprinkle the flour into the melted butter and whisk constantly for 2–3 minutes to create a roux.
  3. Continue cooking the roux until it reaches a medium-tan or 'peanut butter' color for deep flavor.
  4. Slowly drizzle in the beef broth, approximately 1/4 cup at a time, whisking vigorously between additions to prevent lumps.
  5. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  6. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 3–5 minutes until the gravy is thick and glossy.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. If too thick, add a tablespoon of broth to reach desired consistency.
