Ingredients:
- 6 medium apples (about 900g / 2 lbs), peeled, cored, and sliced (preferably Granny Smith or Bramley)
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar (38g)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (2.6g)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (15ml)
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (8g)
- 1 cup rolled oats (90g)
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour (90g)
- ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed (150g)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (2.6g)
- ½ tsp salt (2.8g)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (113g), cold and cubed
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. In a large bowl, toss the apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour until evenly coated.
- For the topping, combine rolled oats, all-purpose flour, light brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl. Add the cold, cubed butter and work it into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly in the baking dish and sprinkle the oat crumble topping uniformly over the apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling at the edges.
- Allow the apple crisp to cool for 10 minutes before serving to let the filling thicken.
