Ingredients:
- 1 Tablespoon Chilli Powder (Mild to Medium)
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika (Spanish preferred)
- 1 teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Granulated Garlic Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Granulated Onion Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano (crushed)
- 1/2 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Cornflour (Cornstarch)
- 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (Optional, for heat)
Instructions:
- Prepare and Measure: Ensure all your spices are fresh and measure out each ingredient precisely using level measuring spoons.
- Combine Ingredients: Place the chilli powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, black pepper, cornflour, and cayenne (if using) into the small mixing bowl.
- Whisk Thoroughly: Whisk the ingredients aggressively for 30–60 seconds until the mixture is uniform in colour and texture. You should not see pockets of white cornflour or clumps of salt.
- Storage: Immediately transfer the finished blend into a clean, air-tight jar or container. Label and date the container if storing for later use.
- Application Note: Use the entire blend to season 1 lb (450g) of browned and drained ground beef, along with 1/2 cup (120 ml) of water or low-sodium stock, simmering until thickened (approximately 5-7 minutes).
