Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) high-heat cooking oil (e.g., coconut oil, avocado oil, canola oil)
  • 1/2 cup (90 g) popcorn kernels (yellow or white)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 g) salt, or to taste
  • 2-4 tablespoons (30-60 ml) melted butter, optional

Instructions:

  1. Add oil to the pot and place it over medium-high heat. Add 3-4 popcorn kernels.
  2. Cover the pot. Once the test kernels pop, remove the pot from the heat and add the remaining popcorn kernels.
  3. Swirl the pot to coat all the kernels with oil.
  4. Return the pot to medium-high heat. Cook, covered, until the popping starts to slow down to 2-3 seconds between pops.
  5. Immediately remove the pot from the heat. Pour into a large bowl, drizzle with melted butter (if using), sprinkle with salt, and toss to combine.
  6. Serve immediately and savor the perfect stovetop popcorn.
