Ingredients:
- 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith, Braeburn, or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced (approx. 600g / 1.3 lbs)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (15 ml)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (5 ml)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (60g)
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (45g)
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (100g)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes (115g)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C/ Gas Mark 5). In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Toss well to coat.
- Arrange the apple mixture evenly in the baking dish.
- In the same mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, and brown sugar.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbling.
- Let the crumble cool for a few minutes before serving.
