Ingredients:

  • 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith, Braeburn, or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced (approx. 600g / 1.3 lbs)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (15 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (5 ml)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (60g)
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats (45g)
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (100g)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes (115g)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C/ Gas Mark 5). In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Toss well to coat.
  2. Arrange the apple mixture evenly in the baking dish.
  3. In the same mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, and brown sugar.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbling.
  7. Let the crumble cool for a few minutes before serving.
