Ingredients:
- 1 ¼ cups (155 g) all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar (optional, for sweet pies)
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3-4 tbsp (45-60 ml) ice water
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and sugar.
- Add cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Drizzle in ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing gently until the dough comes together.
- Shape the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- After chilling, roll out the dough on a floured surface until it’s about 12 inches in diameter.
- Carefully place the rolled dough into the pie plate, trimming any excess edges.
- If your recipe calls for a pre-baked crust, dock the bottom with a fork and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
