Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1.5 pounds flank steak
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin, chili powder, and black pepper. If desired, stir in chopped cilantro.
  2. Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Season both sides with salt. Grill the steak for 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until the internal temperature reaches 130-135°F (54-57°C).
  5. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. Thinly slice against the grain to maximize tenderness.
