Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) long-grain rice (e.g., basmati or jasmine)
- 2 cups (480ml) water
- 1 tablespoon (15g) unsalted butter or a splash of olive oil (optional)
- ½ teaspoon (3g) salt (adjust to taste)
Instructions:
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed rice, water, butter, and salt.
- Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat to low, cover with the lid, and let it simmer gently for 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for an additional 5 minutes, removing the lid to allow steam to escape.
- Use a fork to fluff the rice gently and serve warm.
