Ingredients:
- 1 loaf Italian or French bread (12-16 inches)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup freshly chopped parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise.
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- For Soft Garlic Bread: Place bread halves on a baking sheet (lined with parchment paper, if desired). Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is heated through but still soft.
- For Crispy Garlic Bread: Place bread halves on a baking sheet (lined with parchment paper, if desired). Bake for 15-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Monitor closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing into individual portions. Serve immediately.
