Ingredients:

  • 2 large russet potatoes (about 1 pound/450g), peeled or unpeeled, scrubbed clean
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (2.5 ml)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (1.25 ml)
  • Optional: Garlic powder, paprika, or your favorite seasoning to taste

Instructions:

  1. Cut the potatoes into even fries, approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours) to remove excess starch. Drain well and pat very dry with paper towels.
  3. In the same bowl, toss the dried fries with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings until evenly coated.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C). Arrange the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd (cook in batches if necessary). Cook for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Remove the fries from the air fryer basket. Increase the air fryer temperature to 400°F (200°C). Return the fries to the basket (again, in a single layer) and cook for another 10-13 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through.
  6. Transfer the air-fried fries to a plate and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
