Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8 slices of bread (challah, brioche, or Texas toast)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, soaking for about 10-15 seconds per side, ensuring it's saturated but not soggy.
  3. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  4. Place soaked bread slices in the skillet, being careful not to overcrowd. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Add the remaining butter to the skillet and repeat with the remaining bread slices.
  6. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
