Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450 g) cod fillets (or other white fish like haddock or pollock)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
  • ½ teaspoon (2 g) black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon (2 g) paprika
  • 6 cups (1.5 liters) water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 lemon, juiced (about 2 tablespoons or 30 ml)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for serving)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, combine water, apple cider vinegar, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season the fish with salt, black pepper, and paprika evenly on both sides.
  3. Once the boiling mixture is ready, carefully add the seasoned cod fillets to the pot. Boil for about 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  4. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Gently transfer the boiled fillets to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned, if desired.
  5. Transfer the fish to a platter. Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges. Serve immediately.
