Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (approximately 1.5 lbs / 680 g)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
- 1 teaspoon salt (5 g)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper (2 g)
- 1 cup ketchup (240 ml)
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar (60 ml)
- ¼ cup brown sugar (50 g)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce (30 ml)
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika (8 g)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (3 g)
- ½ teaspoon onion powder (2 g)
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat) (2 g)
Instructions:
- Pat the chicken breasts dry; drizzle with olive oil; season with salt and black pepper.
- In a bowl, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Whisk until smooth.
- Place chicken in a resealable plastic bag; pour half the BBQ sauce over the chicken. Seal and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 450°F or 190°C to 230°C).
- Remove chicken from marinade; discard the marinade. Grill chicken for about 6-8 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- During the last few minutes of grilling, brush the chicken with the remaining BBQ sauce for added flavor and glaze.
- Let the grilled chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with additional BBQ sauce if desired.
