Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2/3 cup cocoa
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour baking pans or line the bottoms of round pans with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until the batter is smooth.
- Stir in the boiling water by hand using a whisk or spatula until combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes for a 9x13 inch pan, or 30 to 35 minutes for 8-inch rounds, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Prepare frosting by stirring melted butter into cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating until fluffy. Stir in vanilla extract.
