Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (90g) popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt
- 3 tablespoons (45g) unsalted butter, melted (optional)
Instructions:
- Place the pot over medium heat. Add the oil and three popcorn kernels.
- Cover the pot and wait for the three kernels to pop. This indicates the oil is hot enough.
- Remove the pot from the heat and add the remaining popcorn kernels. Cover and wait 30 seconds.
- Return the pot to medium heat. Gently shake the pot occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even popping.
- As the popcorn begins to pop, listen for the frequency of the pops to slow down.
- Once the popping slows to about 2-3 seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat. Leave the lid on for another minute.
- Pour the popcorn into a large bowl. Drizzle with melted butter (if using) and sprinkle with salt. Toss to coat evenly. Serve immediately.
