Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (45g) quick oats
  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 1/8 tsp (0.75g) fine sea salt
  • 1 tbsp (12g) dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp (0.5g) ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Combine the oats, liquid, and salt in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer and stir occasionally for 1–2 minutes until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the mixture thickens.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat to prevent scorching.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla vigorously until the sugar crystals have completely melted into a smooth glaze.
  5. Cover the pan and let the oats sit for 2 minutes to allow the grains to fully hydrate.
  6. Stir one last time and transfer to a bowl.
