Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup (150g) packed light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 large (50g) egg, room temperature
  • 2 tsp (10ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar for about 2 minutes until the mixture is glossy and thick.
  2. Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and fully emulsified.
  3. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Using a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together just until no streaks of flour remain.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips or chunks by hand, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes, removing when edges are golden brown and set but centers still look slightly soft.
