Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 3/4 cup (150g) packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated white sugar
- 1 large (50g) egg, room temperature
- 2 tsp (10ml) pure vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar for about 2 minutes until the mixture is glossy and thick.
- Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and fully emulsified.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Using a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together just until no streaks of flour remain.
- Stir in the chocolate chips or chunks by hand, being careful not to overmix.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes, removing when edges are golden brown and set but centers still look slightly soft.
