Ingredients:

  • 1 ear of fresh corn on the cob, husk on
  • (Optional) 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (15g)
  • (Optional) Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Trim the silk and any excess husk from the top of the corn, if desired.
  2. Place the whole ear of corn, husk and all, directly into the microwave. No need to add water.
  3. Microwave on high for 3-6 minutes. Start with 3 minutes and check for doneness. Cooking time will vary depending on the power of your microwave and the size of the corn.
  4. Carefully remove the corn from the microwave using oven gloves or tongs. The corn is done when the kernels are tender and slightly juicy.
  5. Let the corn cool slightly. Holding it with oven gloves or tongs, carefully cut off the bottom of the corn with a knife and then pull the husk back from the top and remove the silk from the corn.
  6. Spread with butter (if using), season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve immediately.
