Ingredients:

  • 1 ear of corn per person, in its husk (fresh, not dried out)

Instructions:

  1. Give each ear of corn a good once-over. Make sure the husk is fairly green and hasn't gone totally brown and brittle.
  2. Place the corn, still in its husk, directly into the microwave. No need to add water or anything.
  3. Microwave on high for 3-4 minutes for the first ear, adding 1-2 minutes for each additional ear. Start with the shorter time. Microwaves vary, so it's better to undercook and add more time. Check for doneness.
  4. The corn is done when the husk is slightly softened and you can pierce the kernels easily with a fork through the husk. Be careful when checking, steam will escape!
  5. Remove the corn from the microwave using oven mitts. Let it cool for a minute or two – it will be HOT.
  6. Hold the corn with oven mitts or a towel. Cut off the stem end with a knife. Then, grab the tip of the husk and pull downwards. The corn should slide out with the husk and silk attached.
  7. Serve microwave corn in husk immediately with butter, salt, pepper, or your favorite toppings.
