Ingredients:
- 1 block (14 oz / 400g) extra-firm tofu
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
- Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Place a heavy skillet or tofu press on top for 10–15 minutes to remove excess water.
- Cut the pressed tofu into uniform 1-inch (2.5cm) cubes.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
- Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and fold gently with a spatula until evenly coated. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange tofu cubes in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.
- Flip the cubes and bake for another 15 minutes or until the edges are golden-brown and the exterior is firm and crisp.
