Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup (150g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 large (50g) egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a large bowl. Stir vigorously with a spatula until smooth.
  2. Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter looks glossy.
  3. Sprinkle the flour, baking soda, and salt over the wet mixture. Gently fold together using a spatula until no streaks of dry flour remain.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are deep golden brown but centers look slightly underbaked.
