Ingredients:

  • 1 medium Navel Orange (peeled, sectioned, and frozen solid)
  • 1/2 medium ripe Banana (peeled, chopped, and frozen solid)
  • 1/2 cup Plain Full-Fat Greek Yogurt (125g)
  • 1/4 cup Milk (Oat, Almond, or Dairy)
  • 1 tsp finely grated Orange Zest
  • 1/2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 3-4 Ice Cubes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Freeze the Fruit: Peel the orange and separate it into segments. Peel the banana and chop it roughly. Place both fruits on a small, parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight.
  2. Load the Liquids First: Pour the milk, Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, and honey/syrup (if using) into the blender jug. Placing liquids closest to the blade helps the blending process.
  3. Add Flavor Boosters: Add the finely grated orange zest.
  4. Incorporate Frozen Elements: Add the frozen orange segments and the frozen banana pieces.
  5. Blend: Secure the lid tightly. Start the blender on a low setting and slowly increase to high power. Blend continuously until the mixture is completely smooth, thick, and uniform—this usually takes 45 to 90 seconds.
  6. Troubleshoot Consistency: If the blades are struggling or the smoothie is too thick, stop the blender, scrape down the sides with a spatula, and add one tablespoon of extra milk at a time until the mixture begins to circulate smoothly again.
  7. Taste and Serve: Pour the smoothie immediately into a tall glass. Serve straight away for maximum chill and flavour, optionally garnished with a thin slice of fresh orange.
