Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a 9x13 inch baking pan, stir together the sweetened condensed milk, first 1/2 cup of melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped pecans until they are evenly coated in the syrup.
  4. Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the pecan mixture without stirring.
  5. Drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup of melted butter evenly over the cake mix, using a spatula to gently push the butter into any dry pockets.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
  7. Cover the pan loosely with aluminum foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil for the final 5 minutes of baking to ensure the top is golden brown.
