Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • Water (enough to cover the eggs)

Instructions:

  1. Place eggs in a medium saucepan. Add enough water to cover the eggs by about an inch.
  2. Place the saucepan on the stovetop over high heat. Bring the water to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to maintain a gentle boil. For soft-boiled eggs, boil for 6-7 minutes; for medium-boiled, 8-9 minutes; and for hard-boiled, 10-12 minutes.
  4. While the eggs are boiling, fill a bowl with ice water.
  5. Once the eggs are done boiling, use a slotted spoon to transfer them immediately to the ice bath. Let them sit in the ice water for about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the eggs from the ice bath and gently tap on a hard surface to crack the shell. Peel under running water if desired.
  7. Serve immediately or store in the fridge for up to a week.
