Ingredients:

  • 2 yellowfin tuna steaks (about 6 oz each, 170g)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Brush both sides with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, citrus zests, lime juice, orange juice, and grated ginger until combined.
  3. Place the skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to get hot until shimmering.
  4. Carefully add the tuna steaks to the hot skillet. Sear for about 1.5 to 2 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  5. Drizzle the citrus soy glaze over the tuna during the last minute of cooking, allowing it to caramelize slightly.
  6. Remove the tuna from the skillet, let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing, and serve with extra glaze drizzled on top.
