Ingredients:

  • 1 large, ripe pomegranate
  • Cold water

Instructions:

  1. Score the pomegranate: Using a sharp knife, carefully score the pomegranate around its 'equator' (horizontally) without cutting all the way through to the seeds.
  2. Fill a large bowl with cold water. Gently pull apart the pomegranate halves underwater to contain the juice.
  3. Working underwater, use your fingers to gently loosen and detach the arils (seeds) from the white membrane (pith).
  4. The arils will sink, the pith will float. Skim off and discard the pith.
  5. Drain the arils: Gently pour the arils and water into a colander to drain. Enjoy immediately or store.
