Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) Water
  • 1 cup (200 g) Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) Pumpkin Puree (not pumpkin pie filling!)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Allspice
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) Bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce (15 ml) Pumpkin Spice Syrup
  • 2 dashes Orange Bitters
  • 1/4 ounce (7.5 ml) Maple Syrup (optional)
  • Orange Peel, for garnish
  • Large ice cube
  • Optional : Sprinkle of cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Combine water and sugar in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add pumpkin puree and spices. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool completely (about 30 minutes).
  4. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove solids.
  5. Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  6. Place a large ice cube in an Old Fashioned glass.
  7. Add bourbon, pumpkin spice syrup, orange bitters, and maple syrup (if using) to the glass.
  8. Stir gently with a bar spoon for about 20-30 seconds to chill and combine.
  9. Express the oils from an orange peel over the glass, then drop the peel into the drink.
  10. (Optional) : Sprinkle cinnamon powder.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy!
