Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240 ml) Water
- 1 cup (200 g) Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup (120 g) Pumpkin Puree (not pumpkin pie filling!)
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Allspice
- 2 ounces (60 ml) Bourbon
- 1/2 ounce (15 ml) Pumpkin Spice Syrup
- 2 dashes Orange Bitters
- 1/4 ounce (7.5 ml) Maple Syrup (optional)
- Orange Peel, for garnish
- Large ice cube
- Optional : Sprinkle of cinnamon
Instructions:
- Combine water and sugar in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Add pumpkin puree and spices. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely (about 30 minutes).
- Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove solids.
- Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Place a large ice cube in an Old Fashioned glass.
- Add bourbon, pumpkin spice syrup, orange bitters, and maple syrup (if using) to the glass.
- Stir gently with a bar spoon for about 20-30 seconds to chill and combine.
- Express the oils from an orange peel over the glass, then drop the peel into the drink.
- (Optional) : Sprinkle cinnamon powder.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
