Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Juice of half a lemon (about 1 tablespoon or 15ml)
- Optional: Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (about 2 tablespoons or 15g)
Instructions:
- Rinse the asparagus under cool water and trim off the woody ends, about 1-2 inches from the bottom.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil, and warm for a minute.
- Add the asparagus to the pan in a single layer and sauté for 3-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until vibrant green and tender.
- Add minced garlic, salt, and pepper; cook for another minute until garlic is fragrant (watch to avoid burning!).
- Squeeze lemon juice over the asparagus and toss to combine, cooking for an additional minute to incorporate flavors.
- Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with grated Parmesan before serving if desired.
