Ingredients:

  • 14 oz (400g) Extra-Firm Tofu, drained and patted dry
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp (5g) Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp (5g) Onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) Smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp (8g) Cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) Black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Slice the tofu block into uniform ¾-inch cubes. Note: Uniform size ensures they all finish at the same time.
  2. Use paper towels to firmly pat each side of the cubes to remove surface moisture.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  4. Toss the tofu cubes gently in the marinade until evenly coated.
  5. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the cubes and toss once more until a thin, powdery film forms over the seasoned tofu.
  6. Spread the cubes in a single layer on a parchment lined baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching.
  7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes.
  8. Flip the cubes carefully with a spatula.
  9. Bake for another 12-15 minutes until they are mahogany colored and firm to the touch.
