Ingredients:
- 14 oz (400g) Extra-Firm Tofu, drained and patted dry
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Olive oil
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Soy sauce
- 1 tsp (5g) Garlic powder
- 1 tsp (5g) Onion powder
- 1/2 tsp (3g) Smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp (8g) Cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) Black pepper
Instructions:
- Slice the tofu block into uniform ¾-inch cubes. Note: Uniform size ensures they all finish at the same time.
- Use paper towels to firmly pat each side of the cubes to remove surface moisture.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
- Toss the tofu cubes gently in the marinade until evenly coated.
- Sprinkle the cornstarch over the cubes and toss once more until a thin, powdery film forms over the seasoned tofu.
- Spread the cubes in a single layer on a parchment lined baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes.
- Flip the cubes carefully with a spatula.
- Bake for another 12-15 minutes until they are mahogany colored and firm to the touch.
