Ingredients:

  • 1 (12-ounce) package fresh or frozen cranberries (340g)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (150g)
  • ½ cup orange juice, freshly squeezed (120ml)
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger (about a 1-inch piece)
  • ¼ cup water (60ml)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, grated ginger, water, and salt.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer.
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened slightly. This should take about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let the cranberry sauce cool completely. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
  5. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
