Ingredients:
- 1 package (14 oz / 400g) silken tofu
- 1 tsp (5ml) sesame oil
- 2 tbsp (30ml) light soy sauce
- 1 tsp (5ml) sugar
- 1 tsp (5ml) rice vinegar
- 1 clove (3g) garlic, finely minced
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) grated fresh ginger
- 1 stalk (5g) green onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp (15ml) neutral oil
- 1 tsp (5ml) toasted sesame seeds
Instructions:
- Carefully drain the excess water from the silken tofu package and gently slide the block onto a lightly greased heat-proof plate.
- Slice the tofu into 1-inch (2.5cm) thick slabs or leave it as one solid block.
- Place the plate inside a steamer basket over boiling water, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and steam for 5 to 8 minutes until heated through.
- While the tofu steams, whisk together the light soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small bowl until the sugar is dissolved.
- Drizzle the prepared soy glaze over the steamed tofu.
- Scatter sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds over the top.
- Heat neutral oil in a small skillet until sizzling, then carefully pour the hot oil over the aromatics to release their fragrance.
