Ingredients:

  • 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced (approximately 600g)
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (15ml)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. Toss the apple slices in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Heat the skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt, swirling it around the pan.
  3. Add the apple slices to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg over the apples. Stir to coat the apples evenly.
  5. Continue to sauté for another 3-5 minutes until the apples are tender and caramelized, watching closely to avoid burning.
  6. Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
