Ingredients:
- 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced (approximately 600g)
- 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (15ml)
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional)
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. Toss the apple slices in a bowl with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Heat the skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt, swirling it around the pan.
- Add the apple slices to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften.
- Sprinkle the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg over the apples. Stir to coat the apples evenly.
- Continue to sauté for another 3-5 minutes until the apples are tender and caramelized, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
