Ingredients:

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 tbsp water
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes using a tofu press or heavy object. Cut into 1-inch cubes and toss in a bowl with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until lightly coated.
  2. Heat neutral oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes in a single layer and sear for 3–5 minutes per side until a golden-brown crust forms. Remove tofu and set aside.
  3. Lower heat to medium in the same pan. Add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture begins to reduce.
  5. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and stir constantly until the glaze thickens and becomes glossy.
  6. Return the seared tofu to the pan and toss gently to coat every piece in the glaze.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
