Ingredients:
- 14 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 2 tbsp neutral oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 tbsp water
- 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Instructions:
- Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes using a tofu press or heavy object. Cut into 1-inch cubes and toss in a bowl with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until lightly coated.
- Heat neutral oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes in a single layer and sear for 3–5 minutes per side until a golden-brown crust forms. Remove tofu and set aside.
- Lower heat to medium in the same pan. Add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
- Stir in soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture begins to reduce.
- Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and stir constantly until the glaze thickens and becomes glossy.
- Return the seared tofu to the pan and toss gently to coat every piece in the glaze.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
