Ingredients:
- 1 lb (454g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped (approx. 1 cup / 150g)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (approx. 2 teaspoons / 6g)
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) black pepper
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) dried Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) all-purpose flour
- 1 (10.75 oz/ 305g) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (14.5 oz/ 411g) can cut green beans, drained
- 1 (14.5 oz/ 411g) can sweet corn, drained
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk or half-and-half
- 1/2 cup (60g) shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 (32 oz/ 907g) package frozen tater tots
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Sprinkle with flour and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.
- In a large bowl, combine the browned beef mixture, cream of mushroom soup, green beans, corn, and milk (and cheddar cheese, if using).
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top of the mixture.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy and the filling is bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving this tater tot hotdish.
