Ingredients:
- 2 ¾ cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) baking powder
- ½ teaspoon (3 g) salt
- 1 cup (227 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (50 g)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract
- ¼ cup (60 ml) whole milk
- ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar (for coating)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Beat softened butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Mix in the egg and pure vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Cover the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading and improve texture.
- Shape the dough into balls using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, and roll each ball in granulated sugar if desired.
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart and bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are set and centers remain soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
