Ingredients:

  • 2 ¾ cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon (3 g) salt
  • 1 cup (227 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (50 g)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) whole milk
  • ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Beat softened butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Mix in the egg and pure vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk on low speed until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Cover the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading and improve texture.
  7. Shape the dough into balls using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, and roll each ball in granulated sugar if desired.
  8. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart and bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are set and centers remain soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
